BEST HOT AIR BALLOON RELATED FILMS Why not tune into one of these movies this weekend

UP
* Kids and Adults will love

If the beginning of this movie doesn't make you cry, you have a heart of stone! This is a gorgeous animation about Carl Fredricksen, a retired balloon salesman, is part rascal, part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time -- Carl's front porch! The world's most unlikely duo reach new heights and meet fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, a rare 13-foot tall flightless bird. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realises that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out looking for.

THE WIZARD OF OZ
* Kids and Adults will love

In this classic movie, the Wizard is the one with the balloon, and Dorothy believes its her only chance to get home, that is until she looks down at her ruby slippers!

Dorothy Gale (JUDY GARLAND) is an eleven-year-old girl living on the farm run by her Auntie Em and Uncle Henry. Dissatisfied with her life, and having run afoul of a local and powerful spinster, Miss Gulch, who despises her dog, Toto, Dorothy dreams of some place "over the rainbow" where life is better than her current situation. Consequently, she runs away to protect her dog, but after meeting Professor Marvel, a travelling magician, she decides to return home. As she arrives at the farm, a storm quickly blows up, and before she can get to the storm cellar she's knocked unconscious as a tornado approaches. When she awakens, she finds that she, Toto, and the farm house have landed in Munchkin Land, and on top of the Wicked Witch of the East. The local, diminutive Munchkins who live in this technicolor world praise Dorothy for freeing them from the witch's tyrannical rule, as does Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

On her journey to the Emerald City she meets an array of weird and wonderful characters, including a Lion, Tin Man, Scarecrow as well as Flying Monkeys and a Wicked Witch.

* Kids and Adults will love

Not technically a film with a hot air balloon but one of the most successful children's films ever made. This charming story centres around a lonely little boy who finds that a red balloon magically has a life of its own. As he chases the colourful, teasing object through the Paris streets, the child encounters a world full of adventure and fascinating people... but nothing can prepare him for his final experience with his new and playful friend. Perfect for all ages, this beautiful French film is a short with music and sound but no dialogue. The focal point is a bright red balloon, the psychological companion of a young French boy as he goes to school and plays with his friends. This classic won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 2008, Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao Hsien re imagined the beloved film as THE FLIGHT OF THE RED BALLOON
