Day of the Daffodils! An idyllic day in British Springtime.

video

I have been meaning to put this post up for a while, a few weeks ago I spent an idyllic day with my mum, sister in law and my nephew at the glorious RHS Garden Wisley. Above is a little film I made with my 8mm app which I think sums up those lazy days of british Springtime, song Nothing Even Matters by Lauyrn Hill. In this crazy thunderous weather we are having at the moment, it seems like ages ago, a brief delirious day of spring.

The daffodils were out on mass in the gardens, everywhere was a sunny bloom. After feeding the fish we had a wander into the huge glass greenhouse, and low and behold there was a daffodil and hyacinth competition in one of the attached rooms. The smell on entrance was heavenly and I quite honestly have never seen so many variations of the flower.

Daffodil fact - apparently you can keep them in a tube of water in the fridge and they will keep perfectly for up to two weeks!

They were all fantastic in their own ways, but some had some fabulous names; such as Hot Gossip and Prairie Fire. Which is your favourite one?
